Welcome to Centre for 21st Century Issues.

Women CSOs networking to realize the Sustainable Development Goals (Post-2015) also known as Women2030 project is an EU funded coalition of 5 global and regional women and gender networks working towards the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs in 52 countries of the world.. The Women2030 project is being implemented in the following regions of the world: Eastern Europe, Caucasus, Asia, Africa and Latin America

Women Environmental Programme is the organization in charge of the project in Africa and Centre for 21st Century Issues is one of the expert organization implementing the women2030 project in Nigeria.

The overall objective of women2030 project is “Build capacity of women’s and gender civil society organizations to advance local, national and regional gender-responsive sustainable development policies (2030 Agenda & climate), through participation in policy development and monitoring, mobilizing citizen’s support and demonstrating best practices.

Under the women 2030 project C21st implemented the following sub projects as a sub-grantee

2017 sub projects

Project 1:  One day capacity building for women organizations in Lagos state on SDGs organized in partnership with, women Environmental organization(WEP) and Echoes of women in Africa (ECOWA)

-Gender Assessment of SDGs in Lagos state: Women Environmental Programme (WEP) in collaboration with Center for 21st Century Issues (C21st) and Echoes of Women in Africa carried out an assessment in 10 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Lagos State, to establish baseline information against the selected Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and their targets.  This assessment was undertaken to ascertain how issues relating to the selected SDGs affect women, men, youth, the physically challenged, the aged, and what are the needs that have to be addressed to realize the SDGs.

The Sustainable Development Goals and targets that were assessed are: Goal 1, targets 1.2 and 1.4; Goal 4, target 4a; Goal 5, target 5.5; Goal 6 targets 6.1 and 6.2; Goal 7, target 7.1 and Goal 13, target 13.2.

2018 sub- projects

Project 2.  : Advocacy for the Implementation of the UNFCCC Gender Action Plan In Nigeria

The project objective is to  The objective of the workshop is to build the capacity of Civil Society Organizations, government personnel and private sector on the implementation of the Gender Action Plan of the UNFCCC in South Western Nigeria States of Lagos , Oyo and Ogun. Some of the activities carried out under the project include
