In commemoration of this year’s International Women’s Day, the Executive Director, Centre for 21st Century Issues (C21st), Titilope Ngozi Akosa will on March 8, join other panelists to discuss intersectional feminist approaches to solving climate crisis.
The event — environment and society discussion series, which will be held virtually, is scheduled to commence around 11:00am to 12:00pm.
According to Chatham House, the panel sessions will bring together several renowned speakers with different perspectives on issues especially discussing what joint solutions are possible in addressing Gender inequality and climate change, thereby offering the audience a thought-provoking discussion that thoroughly analyses the topics from many angles.
The panelists include; Nina Jeffs — Schwarzman Academy Fellow, Environment and Society Programme; Dr Sherilyn MacGregor Co-Author of the Feminist Green New Deal; Samantha Hargreaves Director, WoMin African Alliance; Renata Koch Alvarenga, Founder of EmpoderaClima.
The panelists have been identified as experts who are leading innovative solutions to climate change at all levels, especially in frontline communities.
The panel will also explore intersectional feminist approaches to solving the climate crisis. It will consider what feminist approaches can bring to climate change communication and movement building, spotlighting a range of local and regional gender-responsive climate initiatives.
It will also discuss concrete examples of feminist and gender-responsive policies to address climate change, such as the Feminist Green New Deal.
The panel will also highlight the critically important work being carried out by diverse feminist activists and researchers, and how the audience can centre gender and social equality in their work on climate change.
