Centre For 21st Century Issues (C21st) is a reputable civil society organisation responding to the challenges of the 21st century through addressing inequality and working for a socially inclusive society. Our organisation work to promote the voices of the poor, the underserved and other socially disadvantaged groups into policy processes and implement interventions that seek to promote social justice and eliminate inequality. Centre for 21st century works from local to global with a proven track record of promoting voice and accountability in the areas of Health, Environment, Education, water and sanitation at the national and international levels in the last 10 years.
C21st was registered as an unincorporated Association under the companies and Allied Matters Act in 2001 but started operations in year 2008 in Lagos . Over the years has developed its capacity to deliver mentoring, coaching and capacity building support for communities, policy makers, Ministries Departments, agencies and other relevant stakeholders to work together as partners to bring about positive changes in the relevant sectors in Nigeria and at international level.
To this extent C21st has an observer status with the United Nations Framework convention UNFCCC and the Green Climate Fund. C21st is a members of the Women Major group of the United Nations and also the Women and gender Constituency of the UNFCC.
In Nigeria, C21st works with organisations that share its vision and objectives. The organisation currently coordinates:
1. Lagos state Gender Advocacy Team (LASGAT)- Network of women and gender based organisation working to ensure gender and social inclusion in Lagos state.
2. Advocacy and Campaigns Coalition (ACC) a coalition of Civil Society raising voice against childhood killer diseases and other health issues in Nigeria
3. WANEP Lagos state chapter .
4. We are a major stakeholder on environment and climate change issues and gender
